Founder – Sonia Todd
Hello, I’m Sonia, founder of Pilates 121.
My work is rooted in over two decades of experience helping people move with greater ease, strength, and confidence. I discovered Pilates more than 25 years ago during my own rehabilitation and was drawn to its ability to create lasting change through intelligent, mindful movement.
Based in my Garden Studio in Harbury, I offer personalised 1:1 and 1:2 reformer and mat Pilates in a calm, private setting. My coaching style is nurturing and progressive, with a strong focus on precision, postural balance, and helping you feel supported and confident in your body.
I welcome all ages and abilities and believe Pilates has something to offer everyone.

How does Reformer Pilates differ from matwork?
Matwork Pilates is based on Joseph Pilates’ original exercises, designed to move the body through its full range while building core strength, balance, and control. Sessions are performed on a mat, sometimes using small props, with an emphasis on quality of movement rather than repetition. Exercises are adaptable for all abilities and progress gradually as strength and confidence develop.
Reformer Pilates was originally created by Joseph Pilates to support rehabilitation and later became widely used by dancers and athletes. The reformer is a bed-like piece of equipment that uses springs and pulleys to provide resistance and assistance. This support helps improve alignment, increase strength, and safely explore a greater range of movement than matwork alone.
Many clients enjoy combining reformer and matwork, as the reformer can help build the strength and awareness needed to improve mat technique. While reformers may look daunting at first, with expert guidance they are both safe and incredibly effective — offering a supportive, intelligent way to understand how your body moves and how to move better.
